Outstanding Future Educator for 2023
The Eta Chi Chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma Society International is pleased to honor Ashley Fisher as our Outstanding Future Educator for 2023. Ashley received her credential through Cal State University San Marcos. She is yet undecided regarding the grade level she would like to teach, as she finds joy in all levels. However, she might be leaning toward 3rd grade! She brings with her a joy for the classroom, a ready smile and the knowledge, expertise and desire to help students at all levels to reach their individual potential and develop a love of learning.
Suzanne Roy presented a check from Eta Chi for $200 to help Ashley as she begins her teaching career. |
Outstanding Future Educator for 2018
The Eta Chi Chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma Society International is pleased to honor Heather Schiltz as our Outstanding Future Educator for 2018.
Heather was selected because she embraces any opportunity for professional development. She has a wonderful rapport with fellow educators, parents, and students. As our honoree, Heather received a check for $200 from our chapter and a donated scholarship from Study.com. This online educational tool offers courses from 3rd grade through college and is the platform being used for the Working Scholars Program in Silicon Valley: study.com/pages/working-scholars.html Eta Chi Chapter is thankful to Study.com for providing this generous gift for our honoree. |
Teachers Helping Another Teacher
Whether it is in the classroom, before school, after school or on the weekends, Eta Chi members volunteer their time. Whether it is helping with reading groups, learning groups, grading papers, chaperoning a field trip or organizing a potluck for the teachers in the staff lounge, Eta Chi members support their fellow teachers. Retired teachers often go back to the classroom to become a part of the excitement of teaching children.
We report our hours to Chi State. Last year, Chi State gave a "check" to the Department of Education for $1,150,514, which represented the amount of money the California Delta Kappa Gamma members had saved the state since 2005, if they had been paid minimum wage.
May 2012
We were recognized by Chi State for contributing 292 hours to the THAT program. That represents $2482 volunteer teacher time at the current rate of $8.50 an hour.
October, 2011
Our chapter presented a similar "check" on October 10, 2011, to the Poway Unified School District in the amount of $7038, which represented 828 hours of volunteer time, at $8.50 an hour.
